SIGhostNAL, 2018

short film, HD2160p, 7min23sec,2018;Special thanks: KWM Art Center, NOWNESS

"SIGostNAL" stars Amalia Ulman. The story revolves around a carp that is born inside a fish tank in a conference room, desperately trying to break free from its confined surroundings. After a daring leap, its soul is released from its physical body. The soul enters the camera in the conference room and begins to live in the dimension of virtual information. Meanwhile, the soul of a beautiful woman arrives in the conference room (harbor), carrying her luggage and taking a momentary pause. She falls asleep and encounters the carp in her dream. Both of them are unaware of their whereabouts. "SIGhostNAL" (the English title) is a term created by the artist to describe a body transformed into an image, akin to a wandering ghost in various harbors of the virtual world, experiencing the chaotic passage of time and a sense of ephemeral existence.

This film was commissioned by the KWM Art Center and NOWNES.
